Measurement of the radiative K-e3 branching ratio
2005
We present a measurement of the relative branching ratio of the decay KL -> pi e nu gamma (Ke3gamma) with respect to KL-> pi e nu (gamma) (Ke3+Ke3gamma) decay. The result is based on observation of 19 000 Ke3gamma and 5.6 x 10^6 Ke3 decays. The value of the branching ratio is Br(Ke3gamma, Egamma^*>30 MeV,theta(e,gamma)^*>20^o)/Br(Ke3)= (0.964+-0.008+0.011-0.009)%. This result agrees with theoretical predictions but is at variance with a recently published result.
Measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λc+→Λμ+νμ
2017
Abstract We report the first measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λ c + → Λ μ + ν μ . This measurement is based on a sample of e + e − annihilation data produced at a center-of-mass energy s = 4.6 GeV , collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb − 1 . The branching fraction is determined to be B ( Λ c + → Λ μ + ν μ ) = ( 3.49 ± 0.46 ( stat ) ± 0.27 ( syst ) ) % . In addition, we calculate the ratio B ( Λ c + → Λ μ + ν μ ) / B ( Λ c + → Λ e + ν e ) to be 0.96 ± 0.16 ( stat ) ± 0.04 ( syst ) .
Search for a Stable Six-Quark State at BABAR
2019
Recent investigations have suggested that the six-quark combination uuddss could be a deeply bound state (S) that has eluded detection so far, and a potential dark matter candidate. We report the first search for a stable, doubly strange six-quark state in Upsilon -> S anti-Lambda anti-Lambda decays based on a sample of 90 million Upsilon(2S) and 110 million Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR experiment. No signal is observed, and 90% confidence level limits on the combined Upsilon(2S,3S) -> S anti-Lambda anti-Lambda branching fraction in the range (1.2-1.4)x10^-7 are derived for m_S < 2.05 GeV. These bounds set stringent limits on the existence of such exotic particles.
A measurement of the inclusive b → sγ branching ratio
1998
The flavour changing neutral current decay b --> s gamma has been detected in hadronic Z decays collected by ALEPH at LEP. The signal is isolated in lifetime-tagged b (b) over bar events by the presence of a hard photon associated with a system of high momentum and high rapidity hadrons. The background processes are normalised from the data themselves. The inclusive branching ratio is measured to be (3.11 +/- 0.80(stat) +/- 0.72(syst)) x 10(-4), consistent with the Standard Model expectation via penguin processes. First observation of the doubly charmed baryon decay Ξcc++→Ξc+π+
2018
The doubly charmed baryon decay Ξcc++→Ξc+π+ is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of 5.9σ, confirming a recent observation of the baryon in the Λc+K−π+π+ final state. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.7 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The Ξcc++ mass is measured to be 3620.6±1.5(stat)±0.4(syst)±0.3(Ξc+) MeV/c2 and is consistent with the previous result. The ratio of branching fractions between the decay modes is measured to be [B(Ξcc++→Ξc+π+)×B(Ξc+→pK−π+)]/[B(Ξcc++→Λc+K−π+π+)×B(Λc+→pK−π+)]=0.035±0.009(stat)±0.003(syst).
Graphical representation of some duality relations in stochastic population models
2007
We derive a unified stochastic picture for the duality of a resampling-selection model with a branching-coalescing particle process (cf. http://www.ams.org/mathscinet-getitem?mr=MR2123250) and for the self-duality of Feller's branching diffusion with logistic growth (cf. math/0509612). The two dual processes are approximated by particle processes which are forward and backward processes in a graphical representation. We identify duality relations between the basic building blocks of the particle processes which lead to the two dualities mentioned above.
Averages of $b$-hadron, $c$-hadron, and $\tau$-lepton properties as of summer 2016
2017
This article reports world averages of measurements of $b$-hadron, $c$-hadron, and $\tau$-lepton properties obtained by the Heavy Flavor Averaging Group using results available through summer 2016. For the averaging, common input parameters used in the various analyses are adjusted (rescaled) to common values, and known correlations are taken into account. The averages include branching fractions, lifetimes, neutral meson mixing parameters, \CP~violation parameters, parameters of semileptonic decays and CKM matrix elements.
New global fits to $b \to s$ data with all relevant parameters
2018
The LHCb experiment has made several measurements in $b \to s$ transitions which indicate tensions with the Standard Model predictions. Assuming the source of these tensions to be new physics, we present new global fits to all Wilson coefficients which can effectively receive beyond the Standard Model contributions. While the theoretically clean ratios $R_{K^{(*)}}$ which are sensitive to lepton flavour non-universality may unambiguously establish lepton non-universal new physics in the near future, most of the other tensions with the SM in the $b \to s$ data, in particular in the angular observables of the $B\to K^* \mu\mu$ decay and in the branching ratio of the $B_s \to \phi \mu\mu$ deca…
Study of Beauty Hadron Decays into Pairs of Charm Hadrons
2014
First observations of the decays Λ[0 over b] → Λ[+ over c]D[− over (s)] are reported using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb[superscript −1] collected at 7 and 8 TeV center-of-mass energies in proton-proton collisions with the LHCb detector. In addition, the most precise measurement of the branching fraction B(B[0 over s] → D[superscript +]D[− over s]) is made and a search is performed for the decays B[0 over (s)] → Λ[+ over c]Λ[− over c]. The results obtained are B(Λ[0 over b] → Λ[+ over c]D[superscript −])/B(Λ[0 over b] → Λ[+ over c]D[− over s]) = 0.042 ± 0.003(stat) ± 0.003(syst), ⎡⎣B(Λ[0 over b] → Λ[+ over c]D[− over s]) over B([¯ over B[superscript 0] → D[superscr…
Endoderm development requires centrioles to restrain p53-mediated apoptosis in the absence of ERK activity
2021
Centrioles comprise the heart of centrosomes, microtubule-organizing centers. To study the function of centrioles in lung and gut development, we genetically disrupted centrioles throughout the mouse endoderm. Surprisingly, removing centrioles from the endoderm did not disrupt intestinal growth or development but blocked lung branching. In the lung, acentriolar SOX2-expressing airway epithelial cells apoptosed. Loss of centrioles activated p53, and removing p53 restored survival of SOX2-expressing cells, lung branching, and mouse viability. To investigate how endodermal p53 activation specifically killed acentriolar SOX2-expressing cells, we assessed ERK, a prosurvival cue. ERK was active t…
